The challenge
A customer was experiencing recurring downtime of his dredge pump due to a structural problem in the bearing pedestal. The original bearing unit and bearing pedestal could not handle the radial and axial forces, which meant that the bearing had to be overhauled excessively often, the bearing worked itself loose in the pedestal and caused damage to surrounding components.
The desire: a durable solution that could be implemented without major modifications, which fit seamlessly into the existing structure.
Our approach
Our in-house engineering team designed a weighted bearing pedestal based on the original installation dimensions so that assembly remained possible without modification.
The new design included:
Assembly, alignment and testing were performed by our service engineers on site and all within one day.
